Show Notes for October 1, 2009: “Manly Worship” Round Table

AAW-PODCAST-ROUNDTABLE

The topic at hand is “Manly Worship”.  What is “Manly Worship”?  Is there a need for worship songwriters to focus more attention on music that ministers more to men?  Is there a trend in worship music within churches that connects more with the heart of women vs men?  Or is this issue moot and the hearts of men need to be challenged in this area?  Listen in on our first ever Round Table and drop your comments or thoughts:

Great discussion. I’ve wondered about this, but encounter some resistance from my female vocalists when I insist on more up tempo, rousing songs at the top of the set. Most of them would choose all slow, “worshipful” songs if I left it up to them.

The thought that singing at all is foreign to most people, particularly “unchurched” men, is something I had forgotten about. There is a danger to being in church for so many years — possibly losing touch with the pulse of the people at large.
