So far we’ve had some really good comments on this post, recommending other great albums and also asking why I picked these specifically. My buddy, Rian, asked that I write a short explanation under each album sharing why I picked it. Great idea!

Rather than a paragraph on each one, though, I’ll just explain overall why I picked these. First of all, I wanted to give a short list of newer albums that I found inspiring and beneficial to the Body of Christ. Of course, it is one tough task to narrow it down to just five albums. That being said, these are not the only must have worship albums, nor are these the “top 5″. These are just five of many must have albums in my opinion.

These are the ones that stood out to me because of their creativity, depth, and uniqueness. I don’t claim to have listened to all the great worship albums out there. However, I have listened to hundreds of them over the past 20 years since I’ve started listening to worship music. Most of them, in my opinion, sound the same and lack uniqueness and theological depth. Once in a while, I come across real gems that are well-written, well-produced, and that make a positive impact on the Church.

I welcome you to add to this list in the comments. I appreciate all your feedback and recommendations!
